In line with the Bank of Mauritius recommendations aimed at recovering spare coins, we are relaunching the "Your Coins for Change" initiative, a solidarity action in favour of rehabilitating young people in distress.
From 5th April to 30th June 2023, we invite members of the public, including our customers, to visit our dedicated branches to exchange the coins they do not use. All coins will be accepted: 5 cents, 20 cents, Re 1, Rs 5, Rs 10 and Rs 20.
MCB customers can deposit spare coins into their accounts or exchange them for cash. Non-MCB customers wishing to trade in their coins will also be able to do so. We will contribute 1% of the total amount collected to finance rehabilitation programs in favour of young people in difficulty.
The first "Your Coins for Change" campaign, launched in 2020, enabled us to contribute a sum of Rs 127,898.59 to finance a documentary film on the inhabitants of the southeast part of Mauritius, hit by the Wakashio oil spill.
