MCB Tour Championship 2022: Legends of golf relish a return to the Indian Ocean

The Legends Tour has been making the trip to Constance Belle Mare Plage since 2009 and in 2018 a venture to Constance Lemuria in Seychelles became an exciting addition to the schedule, creating a two-stage MCB Tour Championship.

The Indian Ocean’s spectacular weather, resorts and courses are the ideal location for the circuit’s finale and this December promises to be the most exciting yet after the disruptions endured since the 2019 edition.

South Africa’s James Kingston leads the seasonal rankings after finishing in the top 20 in all 12 of his starts on European soil. He’ll be desperate to play well in the final fortnight of the season in order to lift the John Jacobs Trophy, which is awarded to the leading golfer at the end of the year. He’ll be chased to the wire by Ryder Cup stars Paul Lawrie and Phillip Price who have claimed two and one wins apiece this season.

It’s also been a strong year for newcomers with Scotland’s Euan MacIntosh, Argentina’s Ricardo Gonzalez, Australia’s Richard Green and Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva all lifting first trophies at this level.

The MCB Tour Championship – Seychelles takes place on December 2nd to 4th, 2022 at Constance Lemuria, followed by the MCB Tour Championship – Mauritius at Constance Belle Mare Plage from December 9th to 11th, 2022.

Players to watch

James Kingston
The South African was unlucky enough to finish second in both Seychelles and Mauritius in 2019. It was an agonising experience but he has landed two wins since then and heads to the Indian Ocean looking to secure the Order of Merit.

Phillip Price
The Welshman was a three-time winner on the DP World Tour and earlier this year he made it three wins on the Legends Tour with success in Ireland. He’s a three-time top four finisher in Mauritius and lost a play-off in Seychelles in 2018.

Tom Lehman
The former World No. 1 and 1996 British Open champion has also tasted success in the MCB Tour Championship, winning on debut in 2011. He’s returning to the Indian Ocean for the first time since 2018, when he landed top six finishes on both islands.

Paul Lawrie
The 1999 British Open champion will be making his debut in Seychelles this year but he did finish seventh in Mauritius in 2019. The Scotsman has also been in fine form this season, recording wins in England and Spain.

Alex Cejka
The German made a superb start to his Champions Tour career by claiming wins in two senior major championships in 2021 and he added a first Legends Tour win earlier this year. He’ll be making his first trip to the Indian Ocean this December.
