MCB organized the second edition of the MCB InovApp Challenge, in collaboration with IBM, Oracle Cloud and the Mauritius Software Craftmanship Community (MSCC). The competition, targeting the developer’s community and the general public, was held on March 30 and 31 at MCB St. Jean.
During 24 hours, more than 60 participants worked together, in teams of 3 to 5 people with the aim of creating an original and useful IT solution. The theme was :"In view of making Mauritius a true" Smart island ", how would you support the local economy through digital? ". Participants were provided with specific applications by MCB, IBM and Oracle Cloud. They were also brought to face 5 challenges related the report Lokal is Beautiful, launched by MCB Group last January: Konekte, Partaze, Preserve, Bouze and Resikle. The award ceremony was held on April 13th last at Voila Bagatelle Hotel during the closing of DevCon, the developers' conference organized by the MSCC.
Kafkaesque team won the first prize of Rs 100, 000, offered by MCB together with prizes offered by Oracle Cloud. The team was honored for creating an integrated solution that includes a website, a mobile application and a cloud solution to connect manual workers and the general public. Kafkaesque was composed of Vidush Hemnayan Namah, Soodeshna Bappoo and Alan Jean.
Talking Dodo team, consisting of Olfa Fdhila, Tolotra Samuel Randriakotonjanahary, Catherine Njeri and Kevin Apondi won the second prize, consisting of Rs 50,000 offered by MCB as well as Oracle Cloud prizes. They created an application for tourists.
Ipedis Team won the third prize, of Rs 25,000, offered by IBM, as well as Oracle Cloud prizes for creating an application facilitating access to sporting events. Ipedis Team consisted of Rajendra Ballgobin, Prakash Bhunjun, Satish Sookun, Lovasoa Gabriel Randriamitsiry and Yanis Ghidouche.
